South Shore Christian Academy is a Christian, Preschool - Grade 12, college-preparatory, richly diverse day school south of Boston, Massachusetts. We are on a mission to “glorify Jesus Christ by revealing truth, imparting knowledge, stimulating spiritual growth, and developing Christian character in young men and women through a college preparatory curriculum taught by Christian teachers,” so that students can be well-equipped to “do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God” in our world.
 
We are hiring for our Girls Varsity Volleyball Coach for the 2024-25 academic year, starting in August, 2024. The position is a three-month position and is eligible for renewal for the following year. Position is not eligible for benefits. This position is typically Monday – Friday from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (except for all school
closings) as well as the occasional weekends.
 
Job Summary
The Girls Varsity Volleyball Coach will steward the athletic, personal, and
spiritual growth of our student-athletes and prepare them for success, while contributing to the
continued development of our successful volleyball program.
 
Job Specific Duties
  • Lead and coach the Girls Varsity Volleyball team, fostering a positive and competitive environment for players to enhance their skills and reach their full potential.
  • Assist in the recruitment of talented student-athletes to build a competitive program.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with student-athletes, fostering their personal growth, character development, and academic success.
  • Nurture athletes’ spiritual development through sport: pray with students; disciple them in their faith; encourage and foster Christian character on and off the course.
  • Develop and implement effective training programs.
  • Plan and execute practice sessions, emphasizing discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Athletics, develop a practice and game schedule, and make every effort to maintain consistency, predictability, and clear communication with students, parents, and school colleagues regarding scheduling.
  • Provide transportation to and from practices and games using the school-provided van, attending to student safety without compromise.
  • Collaborate with the athletic department and school administration to ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • At all times, protect and attend to the health and wellbeing of players; provide effective emergency response in the case of injuries.
  • Act as a positive Christian role model, promoting integrity, respect, and good sportsmanship both on and off the court.

Minimum Requirements 
  • Previous coaching experience in girls volleyball, with a proven record of success.
  • Strong knowledge of volleyball, including coaching strategies and athlete development techniques.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire athletes.
  • Extensive network of relationships necessary for effective player recruitment.
  • Passion for working with young athletes and helping them achieve their goals.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and dedication.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
  • Vibrant, demonstrated Christian faith; must affirm Statement of Faith and Teaching Positions.
  • SSCA conducts a CORI/SORI background checks and employment authorizations. Employees must get fingerprinted or be able to supply a suitability letter. The expense for fingerprinting and a background check is the responsibility of the individual.
  • Must complete NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching course and be CPR/First Aid certified. (Can be completed after hire.)
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, talk, hear, see, walk, and run. Close and distant vision required. Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
