Parent Fellowship

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wendy Davy and I will serve as Parent Fellowship (PF) Advisor for the 2009-2010 school year. The purpose of Parent Fellowship is to serve the school by supporting its mission, programs, and activities.

As parents of a child attending SSCA we are all part of PF and I strongly encourage you to take an active role in your child's education. We understand that with the varying responsibilities of dual-working, as well as single parent households, there are few parents who are able to make long-term commitment to volunteering. This year some changes were made to PF to make it easier for parents to get involved. I hope these changes will make it easier for everyone to participate.

Please take some time to review the different opportunities to serve listed below. I ask that you prayerfully consider where you can help and mark the committee(s) that you would be interested in working on. You may print out the form and return it to the office. I look forward to getting to know each of you as we work together to strengthen our SSCA PF community.

• Fundraising: Our goal is to raise enough money to give a significant gift to our school. We plan to have two PF fundraisers for the 2009-2010 school year. Some fundraising money will also be needed for operational use for PF.

• Hospitality: This group will provide refreshments for most of our school events. We will also need volunteers to bake and cook for teacher appreciation events.

• Beautification: We plan to schedule 4 days per year to work on some beautification projects. You need not attend all four dates.

• Adult Fellowship: This group will plan events to help parents get to know one another and to help them feel part of the SSCA community. Some events may include: scrap booking, a beading party, breakfast out, men's basketball, and seminars.

• Student and Family Fellowship: This group will plan social programs for SSCA students and their families. Some events will be: a movie night, roller skating party, bowling, student Christmas store, picnics, and a book fair.

• Upper School Coordinators: This committee will consist of Upper School Parents willing to help out with Upper School activities.

• Fall Fair Committee: This committee will work on the preparations for a 2010 Fall Festival.

• I am willing to help at lunch one day a week for a month.
