Lower School Reading Incentive

KICK IT UP-READ!

It's time once again for the Lower School Reading Incentive. Last year our theme was "Reading is a Thrill!" and the students earned passes to Six Flags. This year, our theme is "Kick it Up - Read!" American KempoKarate Academy has generously offered 1 month of free classes including a uniform for all students who reach their goal.

Each classroom has specific goals to reach. Your child's teacher sent home a "Kick It Up-Read" form, which should be completed and returned to your classroom teacher each Monday. Children will receive a "Karate belt sticker" for reaching their classroom goal each week. Students earn one belt per week, but your child is encouraged to continue to read past the goal, as top reader prizes will also be awarded.

Please encourage your child to read, read, read!

(For PreK and K, parents are allowed to read to their children.)

On February 17, we will be rewarded with a "Black Belt Bonanza!" Students will be watching Kung Fu Panda in the gym! This movie is rated PG and it will begin at 9:00 am.

The SSCA Elementary Reading Incentive Program began January 23 and will continue through February 17, 2012! Please contact the office if you would like to be a guest reader for our classes.

Winter Clothing Drive

You know the extra winter coats, hats, mittens, gloves and scarves that are in your closet?  The ones that no one ever uses? Well, there are other people who could!
The Upper School is partnering with the town of Weymouth to conduct a winter clothing drive for those who need them. Would you consider donating your clean extra winter outerwear?

Please bring them in by next Wednesday, February 1st.

Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.
