"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

NEWS AND UPDATES

Annual Sports Banquet

Dear SSCA Athletes and Parents,

The end of the school year is rapidly approaching and that means one thing for our athletes: the annual Athletic Banquet. For both those of you who are "veterans" and those who may be new to the school or the athletic program, the banquet is a time to honor all of our athletes and reflect on the 2009-10 seasons, as well as get a glimpse of the future of athletics at SSCA. In addition, we enjoy food, fun and fellowship with each other!

This year the banquet is Thursday, June 3. Due to the number of teams at SSCA it is important we begin promptly at 6:00pm. The banquet will be held in the school gymnasium and athletes can attend free of charge if they sign up in the office by Friday, May 28 (after the 28th the fee is $15.). The fee for parents, siblings and friends is $15. The final sign-up date is Tuesday, June 1.

In order to get an accurate count for both the cost of the banquet and for our caterer, please email Mrs. Callahan click here or leave a message on her voice mail at 781.331.4340 x3311. Please indicate how many tickets you wish to purchase, and send in cash or a check made out to SSCA to cover the cost.

I hope all of you can make it; it will be a great time to honor our SSCA Warrior athletes!

In His Service,

John Atwater
Athletic Director

Lower School Field Day - Friday, May 28th

Right now the weather seems like it will cooperate with a nice day for Field Day this Friday. Please do not send your child in with snacks or drinks as SSCA will provide it. Dismissal is at 11:40. There are 10 extra spots available in Aftercare, and parents should call the office to register if they do not normally use the service.

If the weather is bad, we will have a regular school day and the rain date will be the following Friday, June 4, with dismissal at 11:40. Icepops will be given out
at the end of the morning.

Memory Book for Chamberlain Family

The staff of SSCA invites our families and students to join with us in creating a memory book for the Chamberlain family. A memory book is similar to an old-fashioned scrapbook that contains written memories, letters, poetry, pictures, etc. We would like to create one for Dr. Chamberlain's family with our thoughts, memories, and pictures of him. In fact, several students have already begun posting memories on a Facebook site! How wonderful if his family could have these memories forever.

Blank pages for the memory book are available beginning Friday, May 28th, in the office for $1. If you wish to participate, see Mrs. Callahan or Mrs. Whalen for your page. We ask that completed pages be returned to the office by the close of school on Wednesday, June 9. This is a great opportunity to share heartfelt feelings and memories with the Chamberlain family.

Kindergarten Aide Position

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Maureen Rota as our new Kindergarten Aide. Maureen is very well qualified for this position as she has been an outstanding aide at SSCA since1999, including a time when she was the Kindergarten Aide for Elaine Ray. Most recently, Maureen has been the aide to the Lower School. Because of her many years of experience here, she knows our school, our teachers, our students, our curriculum and our program.

Uniformes: ¿Necesitamos?

Uniforms: Do we need them?
Many students believe that school uniforms are unnecessary. They think that uniforms take away creativity and individuality. The teachers say that uniforms unify the students and alleviate many conflicts. Uniforms give an equal opportunity. Therefore, why shouldn't we have them?

¡Muchas gracias!

Do you play the guitar?
The worship team is looking for a new guitar player. Not much experience is needed; the songs are pretty easy, but we do need someone with a heart for God and a Christian life to back it up. We practice Tuesday during lunch for chapel on Wednesday. If you're interested, bring your lunch to Mrs. Grogan's music room on Tuesday. Thank you very much!
